Subvert-ground
Public playground proposal 3-D objects rendered in Rhino and Sketchup
Subvert-ground is a public playground for K-12 planned to be installed on Spratly Island, currently being claimed by Vietnam, China and Taiwan and occupied by Vietnamese citizens. The slides, jump ropes, tetrapod blocks and movable flags take visual cues from objects that signify ownership of the ocean and nation-building process, such as the Vietnamese nationalist monument to stake a claim on the island. Through the act of playing with these structures, the players build their own nations.
