Landmark Stool

Public art intervention proposal.
Stool dimension: 11 x 11 x 14 and 14 x 14 x 18

Landmark Stool consists of 3000 biodegradable plastic chairs installed in piles on street corners. The design of the chair is inspired by the monumental landmark that declares Vietnamese sovereignty on the Spratly Island, the landmarks on the side of highway in Vietnam and the ubiquitous plastic chairs used by street vendors on sidewalks. As people take these chairs and use them, they (subconsciously) reclaim and reflect on how new territory is marked by a nation.
